Memory of Nations Awards

Organized by a non-governmental nonprofit organization Post Bellum, Memory of Nations is one of Europe’s largest publicly accessible database of witness stories documenting testimonies of important historical events of the 20th century and trying to pass these stories on to the broader public. Each year, Post Bellum organizes a ceremony, during which awards are presented to people who showed in their lives that honour, freedom, and human dignity are not empty words. In seven years, a total of 34 laureates have received this recognition from the hands of eminent personalities of Czech and Slovak society. The awards went to war veterans, political prisoners, resistance fighters, Holocaust survivors, persecuted authors, members of the underground culture, and many others.
